Book Recommendation – The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews

by Wolf Benedict on January 29, 2010

I am reading The Traveler’s Gift. This book has changed my mindset forever.

It is the story of David Ponder and his unintended journey wherein he meets 7 highly influential figures from history. Each one of these figures has an important message bathed in wisdom for David.

The book is essentially a parable about how to have a successful, fulfilling life. The 7 Decisions of Success are the backbone of this wonderful book.

If you read anything and you want to have a fuller, more meaningful life of prosperity, then you owe it to yourself to get this book.

Since the message is life-encompassing, it’s lessons can be applied to ANY field in which you want to excel.

Note that it is meant to be read slowly, especially the chapters with the decisions in them. Get thee to Amazon.com and buy this book now!

I read this and realized these would be perfect for me at work — I could have discussions while logging sound without having to take my headphones off.
Then I realized I don’t need to do that — I have a spare IFB in my desk that can just plug into my computer. Why didn’t this occur to me before?

I am sure you will be able to get some of these books in your country too, maybe on-line at Amazon. I include the links because they contain excellent suggestions:

I think a book on Bach Flower Remedies is a good place to start. “Essential Writings of Edward Bach – The Twelve Healers & Other Remedies/Heal Thyself” is a pretty famous book.

It was newly published in 2005, and contains his own description of the 38 remedies and what each is used for.

Most pharmacies in Australia sell Bach Flower Remedies. They will also have a naturopath consultant on their staff or a naturopath consultant who visits once a week. Maybe you might need to consider this, especially in the early days of setting up.

I have heard the book "Common Sense Health and Healing" by Richard Schulze is good.

Maybe you could become a member of a company like Blackmores – they have on-line naturopaths that you can consult:

I am sure there would be something similar in your area.

I would also suggest getting some books to sell (around $10 each) on the importance of food and health (i.e.) health benefits of juicing

EDIT: I was pretty shocked to read the answer from the first poster. I say congratulations for having the foresight to offer your customers a wide range of healing tools and modalities. It will bring in new customers and make more money for the pharmacy. Yes there are “bad” and “quack” supplements on the market but most pharmacies sell top quality stuff – like the Blackmore range or Bach Flower range. A qualified naturopath will stear you in the right direction.

“No matter how unstrung her characters become, Helen Mirren holds something in reserve. An awareness of the weaknesses of the flesh and the pleasures of surrendering to those weaknesses flickers in her eyes and in the faint half-smile that plays around her lips. She knows. That bone-deep sensuality lends her portrayal of Grace, the hard-bitten madam of a Reno, Nev., brothel in “Love Ranch,” an empathy and toughness that have little connection to Mark Jacobson’s prosaic screenplay. In Ms. Mirren’s first film to be directed by her husband, Taylor Hackford, since “White Nights” in 1985, her formidable dramatic resources can’t camouflage flat writing that eventually veers into gloppy sentimentality. At times even Ms. Mirren, who adopts a regionless American accent, seems uncomfortable.

Love Ranch is the name of the brothel — a tacky configuration of pink trailers behind a chain fence, with a guard tower — inspired by the real-life Mustang Ranch, which in the early 1970s became Nevada’s first licensed whorehouse. Joe Pesci and Ms. Mirren play Charlie and Grace Bontempo, fictionalized screen versions of Joe and Sally Conforte, who were the proprietors of the Mustang Ranch.”
