How to Tear Open the Article Writing Floodgates and Create Hard-Hitting Content In Minutes, Part Deux

by Wolf Benedict on November 29, 2009

If you didn’t read part one, check it out here:

http://www.30daymarketingblog.com/?p=273

In the last part, we went over several techniques you can use to overcome marketing superstar’s writer’s block. Everyone experiences it. Here are the techniques listed so far – we’ve already gone through numbers 1 through 3:

1) Realize it doesn’t need to be a huge posting.

2) It doesn’t need to be a thesis or masterpiece.

3) Take a small break.

Again, if you haven’t read the previous part, do so now at the above link so you understand what is going on here.

Let’s continue.

4) Look around.

This is a wonderful little tidbit when you are stuck or have run out of ideas. Just take a deep breath and look around. You can even go outside if you want to. Let your mind wander as you start taking note of your environment. Don’t have a goal in mind, just be there. Notice.

If you do this for a few minutes, you may find that you become more relaxed and the ideas start to come in. It could be inspired by anything in your immediate environment and you could relate it to your niche.

For example, just now, I looked at a beverage I have on my desk. I’ve been drinking this type of beverage for years and I’m in love with it. It got me thinking… “What made me buy this drink in the first place?”

I remembered that I hadn’t purchased it because someone recommended it to me; I bought it because I was curious as to what it was.

Ahhh, there is my topic – “why do people buy things?” And I could even make a sub-topic about curiosity and how it affects your marketing.

See? Isn’t that simple?

It didn’t take me long at all to come up with those (two) topics – motivations and curiosity. Took me literally 3 seconds to let it enter my mind. Then again, honestly, I’m not experiencing writers block at the moment, but the technique still works if you let it.

5) Read articles.

Another great little gem in case you become stagnant. Start reading other people’s articles. You can branch off in a direction they didn’t or take note of what they left out and start writing about it. Reading other people’s articles is a great way to get ideas and have your mind progressing in a creative direction.

You can also quote the articles or use their writings in your own (make sure you get permission first, of course). You could make a commentary out of what they wrote, interjecting your own statements as to whether you agree or disagree. There are many things you can do with this as you now see.

6) Write a “twist” topic.

This is similar to number 5 above, but deserves it’s own placement. If you have read an article that you feel could use some improvement or alteration, write your own on the same topic or theme with your own “twist” – your own point of view or insights.

For example, if someone writes about how to create a powerful headline, you could follow up with generating “power words” in a headline. While they talked about headlines in general, you are talking more specifically about words themselves and how they affect people.

Understand?

You’re putting your own spin on something someone else has written.

7) One on one.

This is an interview, plain and simple, and people LOVE interviews!

The funny thing is, you don’t necessarily need to interview anyone well-known for it to come off as worthy.

An interview all by itself implies the interviewer has credibility as an author or reporter in his or her field and the interviewee gains instant credibility. It’s a true win-win  situation. Just make sure the interview is informative and not too commercial. Most folks are intelligent enough to see right through that ploy.

Hint: You can use this technique with people you know. “Interview” them and post your interview to your blog, Facebook, etc. You can even do it via email. Very easy, and win-win.

I’ll be sure to wrap this all up in the next blog posting. In the meantime, comment, post, rate this. If it helped you, I want to know about it! Don’t be shy, don’t be bashful… just do it! :-)

Until next time…

Google is learning to iterate the Facebook way – 1) Develop, develop, develop. 2) Release. 3) PRIVACY UPROAR. 4) Frantic fix. 5) Deep breath. 6) And repeat. After launching Google Buzz two days ago to a world curious to see whether the search giant could execute social applications well, the company has made a few tweaks amid privacy criticism. So far, Buzz has attracted 9 million posts and comments and 200 posts per minute from mobile devices. That’s about 7.5 percent of how many status updates Facebook handles in the same time period on average, excluding comments and other types of shared content. Good for a debut? It’s decent. The major privacy problem with Google Buzz was that it outed people’s most frequent e-mail contacts as their followers on the service. Evgeny Morozov raised the very valid concern that for online dissidents in authoritarian countries like China, this loophole could jeopardize the freedom and safety of many people. The second privacy concern was that it was…

DeluxZilla reads a pull-out section of the Shanghai Morning Post devoted to the upcoming Expo:

For newspaper purists out there, I realize removing the individual section of the paper, then opening it up four times to a length that is longer than some people’s arm spans is a little much, especially if you’re riding the subway or in any type of confined space. But I found the “origami” newspaper to be an interesting design scheme.

The aim of the pullout map and “complete guide” to the Expo is for people outside of Shanghai, which seems a little counterproductive because I don’t believe the Shanghai Morning Post is distributed that far out of the city. Nonetheless, I never thought I would be able to say a physical newspaper was “interactive” with its readers, but the Shanghai Morning Post figured out a clever method.

Web host (to manage your website). – Auto responder (to maintain and manage your list). – Training courses (to learn how to set up and run money making internet business). Among all above mentioned, the most important investment is in training courses. Getting the proper information and education is vital as you do not want to risk wasting a lot of hours online not making a cent and then giving up. … A quiet little gem that uses the power of Twitter to generate income …

Details are unfortunately light on this one, but Intel has closed out the week with one interesting tidbit of news — it’s apparently planning to bring its wireless display technology (a.k.a. WiDi) to netbooks, tablets and other mobile devices. That word comes straight from Intel wireless display product manager Kerry Forrell, who says that “we fully expect to take the technology there,” but that he can’t yet provide a specific time frame. Those plans are further backed up by Intel CEO Paul Otellini himself, who told investors this week that “what we’ll be doing over the next few years is take the Wi-Di capability that’s in the laptop today and extend that into all the Intel platforms.” Intel doesn’t even seem to be stopping there, however, with Forrell further adding that the company even sees the technology being built into to TVs “over time.” Intel promises to bring wireless display technology to other mobile devices originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 15 May 2010 02:36:00 EST….

Love is exquisite. It can be delicate and easily broken.

Love does have layers, as do people, ranging from superficial to sublime.

Love does mirror "Truth". The definition of Truth: "Truth Is." This is also a definition of love. Love is. It is either there or it isn't. There is no partial love. There can be love en route, and love departing…but love doesn't exist until it arrives, and is gone as soon as its departure begins.

The mystery and beauty of love is that it involves the souls of the lovers. A bonding at a level we don't understand, can't measure, can't explain, can't accurately define, or depict. No words explain how love is. It is the "Dark Matter" of emotions. We know its there by its impact on its surroundings. We don't understand, however, the why or how of it.

I believe you have captured, as much as humanly possible, the essence of love in your statement.

In as much as anyone can truly capture a dream.
