Failing to realize this one point alone will lead you to disappointment or worse. You must get it into your head that you are here to start a business, not a hobby you dabble in and not a lottery ticket or free path to endless money. Business opportunities = a real business!
2) Overnight success stories are a hyped up myth. Sorry to break this to you, but those overnight success stories you hear about from those MLM companies are nothing but stories. They rarely go into detail about how much work and expense went into it before the “overnight” success became a reality. Enter with realistic expectations!
3) Nothing is free. You WILL spend money or your valuable time. I don’t care how buttered up, glitzy or promising the headline or salesletter is. The fact of the matter is you will have to spend money to earn money. And where you aren’t spending money you are spending time. It is essential to understand this.
Now that we have some realistic expectations as a foundation, let’s continue to see the characteristics of worthwhile business opportunities:
1) The opportunity provides comprehensive training in your niche. Face it, you absolutely need proper training in your chosen opportunity if you have even the remotest wish of achieving a profitable outcome. It’s funny how people think you need training as an employee for a corporation but not necessarily for a home-based business. People have this erroneous notion that simply by joining a business opportunity that this is your golden ticket. It’s not.
If you opened a McDonald’s but received no training on how to operate the equipment, how to train employees, flip burgers, operate the registers, and create cashflow, you’d be a headless chicken, scrambling to serve customers and make your bottom line. Training is crucial.
2) You receive support from the person who brought you in. When you are new to something, it is inevitable that you will have questions. In fact, the #1 emotion many people feel when they join a business opportunity is overwhelm.
Your sponsor or upline should be ready and willing to help and lead you when you need it. You may have a marketing, technical, or billing question and you SHOULD be asking questions – it shows you care about your long-term success in your home-based business. Just remember to ACT on the answers given and avoid falling into “questionitis” or analysis paralysis – too many questions and not enough action.
3) In tandem with #1 above, it is ideal if the business opportunity offers webinars and conference calls. Attending these activities consistently has the cumulative effect of honing your skills and know-how, and this attracts new members to your downline. It is also very, very smart when you see it from the company’s point of view. They want to retain you as a successful producer or distributor, so it’s in their best interest to give you the best value in real-time training.
4) Compensation. Yes, this is #4 for a reason. Too many people look at this first, overlooking the first 3 points and then wonder why they fall into the 97% of people who don’t succeed with their home-based business opportunity. In any case, you ARE in the business to make money, so you should take a very good lo0k at the compensation plan. What percentage do they pay and how often do they pay out? Good questions to ask.
5) Technological flexibility. Can your opportunity integrate with popular services like Aweber or Getresponse, Google Analytics, or Facebook applications? These are essential marketing tools. Most network marketing business opportunity companies out there have integrative features, so you need not worry about it. Just be aware of WHICH platforms they endorse so you go in with proper tools and expectations.
6) Longevity. How long has this company been around? What has been their growth, and what is their future vision? Ask these questions to get a better feel of the company’s direction. There is no guarantee they will be here tomorrow, so ask right at the get go.

THIS GIVES YOU MOTIVATION… MOTIVATION… MOTIVATION… When you are making those phone calls, those cold contacts… your alterior motive is for THEIR success, which leads to YOUR success!!!
~ Goals… now, Riggs3… re-define your goals based on your dreams above… How much income will it take to replace your BRIDE's income… your income…
How many hours are you going to DEVOTE to your MLM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday? Save Sunday for the Lord and your family (no family? then YOU and the LORD share time being an Acts 2:42 Christian… remember your priorities).
With the HOUR(s) you will devote each of those days, PRIORITIZE your TIME very carefully… don't waste any time… have your contact list in hand… CALL THEM… make the appointment and MOVE ON TO THE NEXT CALL… Don't celebrate by watching a ball game after you've made a call (which may have given you a minor corinary)… If YOU are EXCITED about your MLM, they have to FEEL the EXCITEMENT you are feeling… SHARE THAT EXCIETMENT… I want to HEAR the excitement in your voice if you are calling me!
Don't forget about your FOLLOW-UPs… You've got to call them back within 2-3 days to keep the excietement level high for them. They don't know fhe full value of your MLM yet… It's up to you to show them THEIR DREAM… (not your dream… hohum… boooorrrrrriingggggg)… when you asked them about their dream home/car/retirement… they may have mentioned a paid college education for their kids… an airplane for him… and a house big enough for her parents to live with you… SO SHOW THEM HOW TO GET IT… HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE THEM TO ATTAIN THAT 6 FIGURE INCOME?… TO BE DEBT FREE?…
THAT IS WHAT THEY REALLY WANT… so ask them if they have a picture to put on the frige for the college fund, the airplane and the 10,000 sqft house for the WHOLE family… Help them VISUALIZE their Dream(s) AND a METHOD to ACOMPLISH their dreams, use THEIR motivation, and YOU have them becoming successful… in your MLM!
